It is always a delight to welcome the students and school community for the commencement of the New Year. We have a lot of new students who are all settling in really well to Springvale Park SDS. We are excited about the year ahead. I would like to warmly welcome our new students and their families to the school. It is a privilege to share each child’s learning journey.
COVID -19 Information
As you are aware we have had a number of COVID -19 exposure sites in Springvale, Noble Park and Keysborough. We are taking extra precautions during this time. Please keep your child home if they are unwell.
We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school every day.
Missing school can have a major impact on a child’s development. A student missing one day a fortnight will miss four full weeks by the end of the year.
There is no safe number of days for missing school. Each day a student misses school can result in affecting the educational outcomes for our students.
Coming to school every day and on time is vital unless your son /daughter are unwell.
Our school day begins at 9am and finishes at 3 pm. Should your child come into school late or require an early pick up please call the admin office on 95467666 upon arrival to school and wait for the teacher or education support officer to bring the child out to you.
If your contact details have changed over the holidays please advise the school as soon as possible so we can update any changes. Having up to date details means that teachers can contact you when they need to. It is also very important to have the correct details to contact you for any medical issues.
Crown Bus service
Our school transport is provided by Crown Coaches and all families using the service have been provided with pick up and drop off times and locations. Please contact Brown Lokan, the Assistant Principal if you have any questions throughout the year.
The contact number for Crown Coaches is 98451400. If your child is absent from school please contact this number directly. Please also call the school to let us know they will not be attending. Buses wait for 3 minutes at the designated pick up location. Please ensure your child is ready for their allocated pick up time. Bus staff do not come to the door to collect or drop off students: this responsibility is the families. It is also crucial you ensure someone will be at the designated point at your child’s allocated drop off time.
The senior students have voted for their Captains for 2021. Congratulations to:
School Captains- Luke and Ben
Vice Captains-Erika and Anthony
House Captains- Carol, Jeremiah, Iblah , Lako, Vincent, Yovan, Jacky and Sufiyan
Technology Captains-Wareesha and Andrew
Private property brought to school by students, staff or visitors is not insured and the Department does not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage.
This can include mobile phones, calculators, toys, sporting equipment and cars parked on school premises. As the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property, students and staff should be discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school.
Parents or guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport as well as any other transport costs. Parents or guardians can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers if they wish to do so.
The first week and a half of school has been really great and we look forward to sharing our school news and updates in our newsletters. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher, leading teachers, Bronwyn Lokan or myself if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to working in partnership with all members of our school community and seeing how our students progress in their learning journey.
