Principal's report - 26th February 2021

Principal’s report

I want to thank all parents and carers for your supportive response to the directions given by the Victorian Government and the Chief Health Officer for all Victorian Schools to return to remote learning for 3 days during lockdown. This was to  prevent the community transmission of COVID -19. It is crucial that we all do our part to keep everyone safe.

The transition back to school was smooth and the students were all happy to be back to their routine. Given the low rates of community transmission we can now safely return to regular programs such as swimming, excursions and other extra-curricular activities which is wonderful as our students gain so much from these opportunities.

Student Support Group meetings (SSG’s)

Our SSG meetings will be held from the 1st to the 3rd of March and can be by phone, Webex or face to face. If these dates are not convenient please speak to your child’s teacher to arrange a more suitable time. These meetings are really important as we work collaboratively with teachers, education support staff, therapists and families to develop the individual learning goals for each student. These goals are monitored and evaluated throughout the year. We highly value your input and if we work in partnership we will achieve the best outcomes for your child.

School Council elections

School council nomination forms can be obtained from the school office. School councillors play a vital role in the operation and governance of our school. It is also a great opportunity to become more involved in the school. There are 8 meetings per year, 2 per term on the third Wednesday of the month at 9 am. Councillors can attend in person or via Webex. Please give consideration to becoming part of Springvale Park SDS school council.

Principal’s award

                                            Erika Wogan

Erika enjoys coming to school and has demonstrated excellent leadership skills by assisting her peers and teachers to complete jobs within the classroom and around the school. Erika is very creative and loves drawing and making art pieces to brighten our classroom.
Well done Erika, we are very proud of you!

Kitchen Garden

The construction of our new kitchen garden is well under way and we are all looking forward to preparing the garden beds, planting seeds and seedlings, watching them grow and then trying different foods when they are harvested.
